Castors & Wheels Tyre Materials

Hard tread wheels are the easiest to push have greater mobility. Cast iron wheels are usually a favoured choice because they are long lasting and wear well. Solid Nylon are a bit more friendly on your floor with an impressive load capacity, yet are still light in weight.

Resilient tread wheels are not as easy to push but are quieter than the cast iron alternative. Softer tread tyres are useful for towing heavy equipment although they generally cannot be easily maneuvered by one person.

Tread / Tyre Materials

Cast Iron wheels have a long life and wear better, they can also withstand high temperatures, but can be noisy and cause wear to some floors.

Solid Nylon wheels are a popular choice as they have a good load carrying capacity and are easier on your floor surface.

Rubber tyred wheels are suitable for use on most floors.

Polyurethane tyred wheels last longer than rubber tyres and are generally easier for manual handling than rubber. They can also cope with heavy loads.
