Wheel Spins, Fast Bends and Drones
BTRDA Rally Series season began with the shake down at Wyedean Forest featuring 168 competitors from across the UK. Paul Bonas is one of the drivers for this competition racing a 300 horsepower, 440 lbs torque, ProDrive Subaru Impreza under his company Atlas Handling.
He took the opportunity to showcase his lap at Phil Price Rally test venue with his friends at Bexmedia filming
, which gets some stunning slow motion wheel spinning turns and birds eye view aerial shots of bumpy straights.
Paul has been rally driving for 3 years and finished 23rd out of the 168 drivers. He mentions that the event had its share of accidents with previous drivers requiring hospital visits.
“Lots of people went off the track that day as it had been poor weather before the event. I’m happy my run went so well, bodywork and suspension repairs can be costly.”
I asked Paul what got him into rally driving as a hobby and would he recommend the sport to others?
“A friend of mine introduced me to rally driving, after a while he had a car for sale at a good price, it would have been silly not to give it a go.
It’s definitely a stress relief I would recommend it to anyone, the adrenaline keeps you on the edge of your seat.”
The next event will be held on Saturday 16th of May on the Plains Rally located at Welshpool in Wales, host to some of the best forest stages anywhere in the UK. Everyone is invited to watch a day full of adrenaline fuelled action!
