We love to hear about where our castors and wheels are used. From the standard trolleys and dollies to the more unique settings, we aim to keep things moving.
Here are just some of our favorites from 2024 so far...
Making History Come Alive
In July 2024, Paul Sadler (inset photo: right) of Haverhill, Suffolk contacted us asking for assistance in choosing the correct wheel for a historical piece of rope-making equipment.
Paul tells us more about the equipment:
"The rope twisting machine and accompanying equipment was one of two units in daily use in The Haverhill Rope Works up until the early nineteen sixties.
The machine was bought at auction on the closure of The Haverhill Rope Twine and Sack Company to be kept “For the sake of the town (Haverhill)” and was housed at rest in the local Delstar Engineering Factory for seventeen years until the time was found to re-equip it for demonstration purposes.
Interestingly, the machine had originally been made into the timber structure of the old building, which was sawn out and can be seen now supported by the steel side plates.
Following its seventeen-year rest period time was found to remove the temporary electric motor and fit a more traditional Lister D stationary engine which enabled the whole setup to be transported to steam rallies and vintage events around the countryside."
With the addition of our 400mm Solid Rubber Wheels, the machine can now be moved easily between events on all types of ground, including gravel and grass.
The rope twisting machine can be seen at the town's Haverhill Show, an annual event that raises thousands of pounds for local charities. If you'd like to see the machine in action follow the local newspaper for up-to-date details about the 2025 show.
