Are you prepared for what the UK winter has to offer this year?

Why be unprepared? Don't take the risk, ensure you don't get caught out this winter. Have you tested all your snow plough parts before an emergency situation arises?

The council will issue gritters on standby, to prepare for any sudden snowfall, drivers will expect delayed journeys and the annual chaos over the Christmas period will begin!

It would appear that the Met Office aren't currently expecting snow this Christmas...however is the weather forecast always right...?

A cold start to winter?

So what is a Snow Plough?

Essentially a snow plough is snow shovel with wheels...

It consists of giant blades, attached to the front of a truck, which pushes snow out of the way and into walled heaps. They are used to clear driveways and roads, with industrial strength. The larger the snow plough blades, the more snow can be moved.

There are two types of snow plough blades: Straight blades and V-shaped blades. Each blade works in a different way to scoop snow off of the ground, or level snow already on the ground.

Atlas Handling supply a large range of castors and wheels for various industry applications.

We have been supplying castors to be fitted on snow ploughs for many years, supplying councils and fabricators with the snow plough castors needed. The snow plough castors are fitted behind the main blades and are used to guide the snow ploughs and keep the blades at a set height above the road surface. The wheels can also be supplied separating to the castor.

We supply two types of castors for snow ploughs, we'd recommend you try our twin wheel, heavy duty polyurethane tyre castor, with a strong cast iron centre (1500kg capacity) ideal in the snow, or a specific synthetic rubber tyre solution.

Simply contact us if you'd like our industry advice on the best solution for your application this winter.

From everyone here at Atlas Handling - We wish you a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!
